Untaian Pantun Oleh Merak Dalam Hikayat Isma Yatim

ABSTRAK
Artikel ini membincangkan tentang puisi tradisi Melayu iaitu pantun yang diucapkan oleh watak merak dalam Hikayat Isma Yatim. Kajian ini menggunakan metodologi kepustakaan dan filologi konvensional terhadap teks Hikayat Isma Yatim. Dengan menggunakan kaedah filologi konvensional, didapati bahawa terdapat 54 rangkap pantun yang diucapkan oleh watak-watak dalam Hikayat Isma Yatim. Terdapat jenis pantun 2 kerat dan yang paling banyak ialah pantun 4 kerat. Manakala watak-watak yang menguntaikan pantun ini bukan hanya watak manusia malah melibatkan watak-watak bukan manusia khususnya merak jantan dan merak betina. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa untaian puisi pantun yang digunakan oleh merak sebanyak 41 rangkap bertujuan untuk menyampaikan rasa kasih sayang, perasaan gembira, hasrat di hati secara kiasan, mengutarakan rahsia yang tersembunyi dan sebagainya. Pemilihan gaya bahasa pantun ini bersesuaian dengan masyarakat Melayu yang lebih berkias dalam menyampaikan apa jua maksud apabila berbicara agar perhubungan yang terbina lebih utuh dan harmoni.

ABSTRACT
This article discusses the Malay traditional poem, pantun recited by the peacock character portrayed in Isma Yatim’s tale. This study uses the library methodology and conventional philology in Isma Yatim’s tale. By using the conventional philology, it is found that there are 54 pantun recited by characters in Isma Yatim’s tale. There are two types of pantun which are 2 and 4 stanzas. Meanwhile, the characters reciting these pantun were not just human characters but also involved non-human characters especially peacocks and peahens. The research found that 41 pantun werevused by the peacock to convey a sense of love, feeling of excitement, intentions of the heart, revealing hidden secrets and so forth. The selection of pantun language is appropriate with the Malay community who is more figurative in expressing any intentions verbally in order to build a stronger and more harmonious relationship.
